During each day of the Fairfield Fall Foliage Paint-Out, there was a theme, with purchase awards being presented every evening to competition winner(s). The first two themes were "Paint the Parks" and "Capture Center Street." The themes made it easier for visitors to locate the artists while they painted and encouraged the participating artists to paint the fall colors on display in the local parks and beautiful historic homes in Fairfield. Saturday's theme was "Cruise Main Street," during which artists painted along the main thoroughfare in Fairfield. Prize money to the winning artists totaled $2,700 with another $5,000 in sales of artwork. No sales commission was charged; artists kept all sales proceeds.
