Early in June, the Finger Lakes Plein Air Competition and Festival was held in Canandaigua, one of the most charming of lakeside communities in upstate New York. Find out who won awards in both the adults’ and children’s competitions.

The Finger Lakes Plein Air Competition & Festival at Canandaigua, New York, held June 8-10, 2012, was judged by Ann Larsen, an accomplished outdoor painter. She presented awards to Zufar Bikbov (First Place), Mike Wintermantel (Second Place), and Nikolay Mikushkin (Third Place). Honorable Mentions were given to Paul Martin, Phil Bliss, and Chad Smith.

The fun “Chalk It Up” contest of young artists drawing on a sheltered pavement resulted in awards in two age categories. Winners in the 9-16 age group included Jared Ratzel (First Place), Natasha George (Second Place), and Emily McMullen (Third Place). Honorable Mentions went to Alex and Meghan Gerstner, Casey Knight, Maddie Knight, and Katie Rohrer.
