Plein Air — Easton! in Maryland

Two of the most important summer plein air festivals just took place, and we can reveal who won the prizes in the overall competitions and quick draw events.

This is turning out to be a big year for Hiu Lai Chong, in that she just won both the $5,000 Timothy Dills Memorial Grand Prize and the Artists’ Choice/PleinAir magazine awards at Plein Air — Easton! Just a few weeks ago she won the Best in Show award in the Mountain Maryland Plein Air event in Cumberland, Maryland.

Among the other award winners in the Easton, Maryland competition were Eric Bowman (Second Place and $2,000), Jill Basham (Third Place and $1,000), Jim Wodark (Vanishing Landscape award and $2,500), D. Eleinne Basa (Best Marine award and $1,000), Richard Sneary (Best Architectural and $1,000), John Brandon Sills (Troika Fine Art Gallery award and Best Painting by a Maryland Artist and $500), Charlie Hunter (Easton Studio & School award, Best New Artist to PA Easton, and $500), and Paul Bachem (Best use of Light). Honorable mention awards and $150 were presented to Chad Smith and Ron Donoughe. Tim Kelly won the First Place award and $1,500 in the quick draw competition.
