The 2012 Denver, Colorado Plein Air Arts Festival began August 10 and will continue through September 16. Artists may submit their images by September 22 to be considered for the exhibition that opens to the public on November 13. Find out more about this exciting event.

The Shattemuc Yacht Club in Ossining, New York, hosted its second plein air paint-out on Saturday, August 4, 2012 and approximately 50 artists participated, including PleinAir magazine editor Steve Doherty. The event was a benefit for the Junior Sailing Academy.

To help bring attention to regional plein air painters and its current exhibitions, the Portland Art Museum hosted an exciting one-day painting event on August 5. With support from Gamblin Artists Colors, more than 35 artists painted and exhibited their work outside the museum.

Denise Rose organized Plein Air Memphis this past spring as a way of bringing together outdoor painters in Western Tennessee. In addition to scheduling paint-outs, she set up both public and private pages on Facebook and established a blog where members can share information.
