British artist Anthony Garratt felt constrained while painting during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebration in London on June 3 because he had to use an easel. He normally puts his large canvases on the ground, where he can incorporate sand, dirt, sea salt, rain, wind and other "bits of energy" into his paintings.
Before we can give you a full report on festivals, we love sharing photos sent to us as the events are happening. Here are some great photos from Plein Air Cedarburg, sponsored by the Cedarburg Artists Guild in Wisconsin (June 13-24, 2012).
The weather was perfect for plein air painting, sharing tips, meeting friends, and having laughs during the 2012 PleinAir Publisher's Invitational in the Adirondack Mountains in Upstate New York. See which of your friends were inspired by the breathtaking landscape.
Not all the events we report on are formally organized, sponsored plein air festivals. This week we share photograph of five friends from the Portland, Oregon, area who recently painted together in wine country. If you have photographs to share, here's where to send them.
