From November 2-4, 2012, some of the most celebrated local and visiting artists will participate in the “Painting in the Park” during the 14th annual Charleston Fine Art Annual weekend, dedicated to the visual arts in Charleston, South Carolina.

The highlight of the fine art weekend is the “Painting in the Park,” which features some of the most celebrated local and visiting artists, including West Fraser, Lese Corrigan, Susan Romaine, Shannon Smith, Jennifer Smith-Rogers, Karen Larson Turner, Mark Bailey, Curt Butler, Laurie Meyer, Craig Nelson, Karen Weihs, Rhett Thurman, Trey Finney, Mark Kelvin Horton, Chris Groves, Nancy Hoerter, Elizabeth Pollie, Shannon Runquist, Marty Whaley Adams, Nancy Pellatt, Katrina McDowell, Billyo O’Donnell, Donald Demers, Larry Wheeler, Mary Erickson, Arnold Damaratis, Simon Kenevan, Fred Jamar, and Robert Lange.

CFADA artists will gather at Washington Park for a plein air session on Saturday morning, November 3, starting at 9 a.m. The wet paintings from the park will be sold to benefit the Charleston County High Schools art programs. “Painting in the Park” ends at noon.

The Ninth Annual High School Art Competition, an outdoor juried exhibition of outstanding student works from 11 local high schools, is held in conjunction with “Painting in the Park.” The student artworks will be on display from 9 a.m. and judged by a panel of celebrity judges. The winners will be announced at 11:30 a.m.

The event is organized by the Charleston Fine Art Dealers Association (CFADA). This year, the Gibbes Museum of Art will present its first ever Art on Paper Fair in conjunction with the annual event. The print fair will feature dealers representing some of the CFADA galleries, as well as other premier galleries of the southeast. Works for sale will include prints, watercolors, drawings, and photographs. For more information on CFADA, please visit www.cfada.com.
