Fifth Annual Winter Park Paint Out

The Fifth Annual Winter Park Paint Out (WPPO) opens April 20th and closes on the 27th. Twenty-five of the finest plein air artists will be painting on the grounds of Czech-American sculptor Albin Polasek’s historic home and sculpture gardens, as well as throughout the cities of Winter Park and Orlando.

This event aims to bring plein air to new audiences and make fine art accessible to everyone by offering free entertainment to the public, with a portion of art sale proceeds going to support the preservation, maintenance, and operation of the Albin Polasek Museum & Gardens, a nonprofit institution that is on National Register of Historic Places.

The paint-out begins on Saturday, April 20, with a special presentation and demo by Florida’s 2012 Black History Month Award recipient and treasured Florida Highwayman Kelvin Hair. The painting demonstrations continue throughout the week, along with other special events, such as a sunset paint-in at Hillstone Restaurant and the annual Garden Party. The public is invited to stop by the museum, gallery, and gardens all week long to see recently completed works, watch artists painting in the gardens, and attend free painting demonstrations. The historic Polasek residence will also be open for viewing free of charge. Artwork produced during the paint-out will be for sale in the gallery “wet room” or can be viewed in real time, virtually, on the WPPO website.

This year’s participating artists include Morgan Samuel Price, Matthew Cornell, Don Sondag, Stephen Bach, Stewart Jones, Hiu Lai Chong, Bill Farnsworth, Charles Dickinson, Priscilla Coote, Jane Chapin, Christophe Cardot, Steve Andrews, Stacy Barter, Linda Apriletti, Trish Vevera, Joe Palmerio, Sheila Thornton, Ken DeWaard, Gary Rupp, Cynthia Edmonds, Irina Kovnacka Ashcraft, Elisabeth Ferber, Terry Mason, Berto Ortega, and Bobbie Puttrich.
