Abigail McBride painting in downtown Chesapeake, MD
“Our Wet Paint exhibit was standing-room-only and sold paintings were flying off the walls,” McBride reports. “The same town that was so perplexed by what we did last year was totally energized and inspired this time around. This was a non-competitive event. We did not jury the artists in or hand out awards. Both professional and amateur artists participated and sold work.

“The vision for this event is to create community amongst the local artists and educate and inspire the local population to support the arts. Plein air events seem to have the unique ability to ignite interest in contemporary painting. I saw it in Paint Annapolis, and I just knew it would be the same here. Boy, did it work!”

Among the artists who participated this year were Donna Winterling, Patti Paulus, Ray Murphy, Katie Ritter, Susan Gill, Michael Kalmach, and Abigail McBride. For more information, visit www.chesapeakecityarts.com.
