Although the winter only seems to be intensifying in most parts of the country, California is getting ready for spring. Two events — Los Gatos Plein Air and the Paso Robles Festival of the Arts — have entry deadlines fast approaching.
Artists will paint on location from June 17 through June 20 in Los Gatos in preparation for the plein air show held on June 21 at the Los Gatos Town Plaza. A panel of jurors will select the participating artists. Host lodging will be available. Entry deadline is January 31; visit the prospectus online at OnlineJuriedShows.com.

In Paso Robles, Quang Ho will serve as judge for an outdoor festival that benefits a local waterway. The Paso Robles Festival of the Arts will be held May 23-24 in a downtown park that will also host live music, dance performances, a public mural project, and other attractions.
Part of the proceeds help protect the Salinas River Corridor, a cause that has driven this event since its inception. The arts festival has been singled out for its success in generating matching funds to help purchase parcels of land along the waterway; the inaugural festival was responsible for more than $200,000 in matching funds.
