Much of the country thinks of New York’s Hamptons as a playground for the East Coast’s rich and famous, but it originally became a destination in large part because of its gentle beauty. A plein air event in July invites artists to capture some of that on canvas.

The Hamptons Plein Air Invitational is scheduled July 14-23 on Long Island, centering on East Hampton, New York. The invited artists will show at Ashawagh Hall, in the hamlet of Springs. Workshops, paint-outs, and an artists’ reception are planned. “The Salmagundians (plein air painters from The Salmagundi Club) and any other traveling plein air artists are invited to join us for the paint outs and workshops,” say the organizers.
