Models, costumes, lighting, and the works can be expensive endeavors for artists, which is why this upcoming event is worth every penny.

For $65, the Spring Tableau Vivant event at Tilbury Camp in Washington State is a remarkable opportunity for painters looking for modeling and props in the style of the Old West. Taking place on June 4 from 9 a.m. to dusk, the event has seen outstanding growth over several years.

“Our theme this year is ‘farm,’” say the organizers. “Numerous models will be dressed in period costume of the actual 19th century, as well as of the 19th century that might have been. Scenarios will be staged and made available for plein air painting and photography. The scenes will be set for long poses for those who wish to paint.

“Still life setups of period props will also be available. There will be no lack of things to paint or photograph! If you are an artist stifled for something to paint and without a reference, now is the time to fill your portfolio.”

Only a limited number of artists can be registered, but registration is still open. To learn more, visit Tilbury Camp.
