The beautiful Mohonk Mountain House, New York

Time is quickly running out to immerse yourself in a fantastic paint-out opportunity in New York State. We’ve got all you need to know to find yourself at the Mohonk Mountain House this spring. Details here!

I can’t believe how many outstanding plein air opportunities are out there. From Southern California to New England and Washington State to Key West, Florida, the warming weather is signaling the beginning of dozens of outdoor painting opportunities. You’ve got no excuse!

For those looking to capture the majesty of our country’s Northeast — and learn a few trade secrets from master painter Erik Koeppel — look no further than the Artist’s Inspiration: Paint-Out event at the Mohonk Mountain House this spring. Do hurry, however, as the event begins on May 29, lasting through June 2.

Per the event website: “The 5-day, mid-week program features a wide range of events including workshops in various media (pastel, watercolor, and oil); painting demonstrations; art-related entertainment, and three days of plein air painting alongside 12 outstanding local artists and a nationally renowned featured artist (Erik Koeppel).” The event has been organized in collaboration with Wired Gallery.

Events kick off on Monday, May 29, with the Wired Gallery Pop-Up Show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. From 9-10 p.m., Erik Koeppel offers an evening demonstration and talk. “Koeppel brings an array of finished studio paintings, outdoor paintings, and drawings, and shares his experience and process of painting as an artist inspired by the 19th-century Hudson River School of painters,” says the organizers. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will witness a number of tantalizing workshops and plein air painting opportunities around the region. Among the participating artists offering workshops are Robert Carston (pastel), Keith Gunderson, Koeppel, and Tarryl Gabel.
