Use Social Media Smartly and Efficiently

Attendees of the 2013 Plein Air Convention & Expo last month benefited from several substantial presentations, including a talk given by painter Ed Terpening on how artists can best use social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and the like. Some of his revelations surprised the audience.

Starting today, a record number of plein air painters will assemble at the Monterey, California, Conference Center in the largest gathering of plein air painters in history. The group, which is coming from all parts of North America, Europe, South America, the Middle East, the Orient, and Australia/New Zealand, is coming together for the PleinAir magazine Plein Air Convention & Expo, which officially opens at 4 p.m. today.

San Luis Obispo, CA

Steven Berg-Hansen picked two paintings to receive Best of Show awards in the recent 2012 San Luis Obispo Plein Air Festival in California, and PleinAir staff member Richard Lindenberg was pleasantly surprised when he received the People's Choice award. Find out who received the top honors.

Top Artists Compete in San Luis Obispo, CA

PleinAir magazine’s multi-talented Senior Account Executive, Richard Lindenberg, once again participated and reported on the 2011 Plein Air Festival in San Lius Obispo, California sponsored by the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art. Lindenberg proudly tells us he received and Honorable Mention award and that two artists shared the Best of Show award: Carolyn Lord and Carolyn Hesse-Low.

Our special guest will be Richard Ormond, grandnephew of John Singer Sargent and the author of most of the great books on Sargent.

Practing What We're Preaching

Two members of the PleinAirTM magazine Board of Advisors, Christopher Forbes and Ed Terpening, attended the opening in New York of paintings resulting from an event organized by Mr. Forbes and PleinAir editor Steve Doherty. The paintings shown in “The Timberfield 10” exhibition at the Forbes Magazine Galleries that opened on June 30th were created by ten artists who spent a weekend painting on location at Timberfield, the Forbes family home in New Jersey. The exhibition will remain on view until September 10, 2011.
