Noted painter and instructor Kevin Macpherson has made several trips to China over the last four years, with the latest being this spring. It seems the United States could not ask for a better artist-ambassador, based on his journal entries, shared thanks to Peter Adams, the president of the California Art Club.

Betty Carr won the Best of Show award on October 28, 2011 at the conclusion of the 7th Annual Sedona Plein Air Festival in Sedona, Arizona. Other award winners included Bruce Gomez (Artists’s Choice Award) and Williamson Tapia (2012 Poster Award, sponsored by PleinAir magazine and Sedona Arts center).

The 13th Annual Laguna Beach Plein Air Invitational event presented by Laguna Plein Air Painters of America (LPAPA) and Laguna Art Museum in Laguna, California was held from Oct 9 -16, 2011. Over 40 of the nation’s top plein air artists participated. Reported by Vanessa Rothe.
