PleinAir Salon Winners Announced

Oregon artist Mitch Baird’s painting “A Guiding Nudge” was selected to receive the First Prize award in the November/December 1st Annual PleinAir Salon Competition by judges Kim Lordier and Ned Mueller. Second prize went to Marc Dalessio for his painting “Barn at Turback”, and Third Prize was given to Aaron Schuerr for his painting titled “River Glow.” The judges offered comments about all three of these paintings.

“It May Be Messy, But ... ”

When PleinAir magazine editor Steve Doherty recently posted a photograph of his messy pochade box, members of the magazine’s Facebook community said it was a sign of creativity. Joseph McGurl in Massachusetts

Massachusetts artist Joseph McGurl is exhibiting a remarkable group of landscape paintings, 15 of which are 9” x 12” plein air pieces created during a recent trip to Italy. The show is on view at Tree’s Place in Orleans, Massachusetts on Cape Cod and is titled “Painting From Life: A Path Less Traveled” (August 13-25, 2011).
