On Friday, May 4th, The American Masters Exhibition and Sale opened at the Salmagundi Club on 5th Ave in New York and staff members of PleinAir and Fine Art Connoisseur magazines were there to celebrate. The annual event organized and curated by Tim Newton raises money for the renovation and expansion of the historic club.

Here are a few upcoming plein air events in California, Wisconsin, Utah and New Jersey that are accepting applications from artists who want to participate. Some events require artists to first apply for membership, and others are open to non-members.

Audiences were spellbound by Eric Rhoad’s dynamic presentations in California last weekend. Rhoads, publisher of both PleinAir and Fine Art Connoisseur magazines, moderated panels during the California Art Club’s (CAC) Winter Symposium in San Francisco and the Los Angeles Art Show: Historic and Traditional convention. He will offer the same kinds of informative and motivating presentations during the 1st Annual PleinAir Convention & Expo in Las Vegas from April 12-15, 2012.

In 2006, the original PleinAir magazine transitioned to become Fine Art Connoisseur (FAC), an informative and authoritative publication for artists, curators, art historians, dealers, and collectors. Peter Trippi, who is the distinguished editor of FAC, often supports arts organizations by judging entries to their contests. He recently helped select work for competition organized by the America China Oil Painting Artists League (ACOPAL).

Editors and marketing executives from both PleinAir and Fine Art Connoisseur Magazines attended the May 13th preview reception for the American Masters exhibition that benefitted the historic Salmagundi Club, which hosted the display of paintings, drawings and sculpture.
