Awards in Plein Air Maui

In Hawaii, record sales were reached in the Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational of 2012. From February18 - 26, 2012. Twenty-five invited artist painted en plein air from the upcountry flower farms and ranches to the coasts and beaches on the Island of Maui. The Best of Show winner was Carleton Kinkade, from Maui, for his painting “Shady Palm.”

Criticism That Helps

With the increased speed of communication through digital media, there has been an increase in the number of poorly written and insensitive criticism of artwork on websites. Comments are often added below paintings that are not helpful, especially when they come across as drive-by, random shots from a passing critic.
