Five of the eight major awards at the 4th Annual Easels in Frederick, held recently in Frederick, Maryland, were won by two friends from Arkansas.

Out of the 30 juried artists participating in the event, which was held June 16-21, John Lasater and Jason Sacran proved a strong presence. Lasater won the Grand Prize for his oil painting “The Generations of Frederick,” and Collectors’ Choice for “South and Carroll,” and Sacran took Artists’ Choice and People’s Choice for “South Side,” and Best Use of Light for “Clouds on Hwy. 17.”

Charlie Hunter won the Quick Draw competition. Scott Christensen served as the juror of entries, and he selected 30 artists and 10 alternates.
