A number of American artists participated in Art in the Open 2011, a plein air painting event in Wexford, Ireland from July 26 - August 4, 2011 that included a 3-day competition ending on  July 31, 2011. Enjoy the 22-minute video that includes interviews with the participating artists.

One of the fascinating plein air events described in the fall issue of PleinAir magazine is a gathering of artists at the ranch high in the Santa Ynez Mountains near Santa Barbara, California that served as The Western White House from 1981-1989. The Guenzel Gallery of the Peninsula School of Art in  Wisconsin produced a short video review of the paintings created during the 5th Annual Door County Plein Air Festival that concluded July 23, 2011.

 

In the fall issue of PleinAir Magazine, we report on one of the most significant educational programs for plein air painter, The Hudson River Fellowship (HRF). In this video, Peter Trippi, Editor-in-Chief of Fine Art Connoisseur magazine, interviews Jacob Collins, one of the founders of the HRF and the Grand Central Academy of Art. The interview was produced for American Painting Video Magazine, an informative series of filmed interviews with some of today’s most important artists.

Joellyn Duesberry will be featured in the fall issue of PleinAir Magazine at the same time a 50-year retrospective exhibition is being presented by The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center (until September 11, 2011).  At the same time, paintings she created from the 91st floor of the World Trade Center in 2001 will be included in an exhibition at The New York State Museum in Albany, New York.
