Vibrant Oil & Acrylic Paintings in CA

An exhibition of Michael Ferguson’s electric landscape paintings heralds the new year in the Marcia Burtt Gallery in Santa Barbara, California, from January 12 through March 4, 2018. The roots of Ferguson’s large, stylized paintings can be found in plein air studies that show his obsession with color and texture on a smaller scale. Those oil sketches and the larger studio acrylic paintings based on those outdoor studies reflect a life spent observing the Northwest Coast and backcountry. Pulsating with color, Ferguson’s works have energy that illuminates our botanical world. The Washington state-based painter depicts the land, ocean, and flora of the Pacific Northwest with textured acrylic and oil. Also on view in the gallery are oil paintings by Anne Ward.
