Masters of the American West Art Exhibition
February 10 through March 25, 2018

The 2018 Masters of the American West Art Exhibition and Sale will feature paintings and sculptures from more than 70 nationally recognized contemporary artists, including Sedona, AZ artist Curt Walters.

Walters has built his career around and is best known for his enormous and striking oil paintings of Grand Canyon. The paintings he will exhibit at the Masters this year are “February’s Finale,” (above) “West from Plateau Point” (below) and “August Evening and Merrick Butte.”

The Masters of the American West show will kick off with the panel discussions during the day and the Reception and Art Sale will follow that evening at 5:30pm on Saturday, February 10. Walters, along with many of the other featured artists, will be in attendance.   1. Hi from Anne. I do not think 14 x 14 or 20 x 20 is enormous. Actually, I paint those sizes plein air all summer and fall long. the largest PA painting I made was 30 x 36 of a wonderful scene of connected barns and an old truck near my home in Maryland. I worked on it three times..three Tuesday mornings with the PA group I founded some years ago. I used my Coulter easel set up and the piece was on a stretched canvas. It was during the fall of the year and one can imagine the colors.

  2. I agree with the other two comments, I don’t think those sizes are enormous. The subject definitely is enormous and a difficult one to paint well, something Curt does exceptionally well. I have painted the canyon also and find it quite an intimidating subject. My two paintings were 18″X24 and 24″X18″ and I don’t consider them enormous.
