– Bob Bahr reporting, Editor PleinAir Today –

“They’ll read about you in school.” For Plein Air Convention & Expo (PACE) instructor Georgia Mansur, this is an honor already happening.

“I often get requests for interviews from students, help with art supplies, or requests for paintings for charity, and I try to honor each one with whatever I can do to help,” says Mansur. “However, I have never had one that touched me more than this one from a 14-year-old girl named Illiana who wanted to do a report for a school project highlighting her favorite Australian artist.” That would be Mansur.

“Through the connection of structural frame and cultural frame, Georgia Mansur has successfully captured Australian culture,” writes Illiana Jones in her report. “Portraying its history, both past and present, through subtle symbols hidden within the magnificent artwork, this artwork uses structural and cultural frame to heighten its abilities as a painting. Georgia Mansur is a truly magnificent artist, who has created an Australian landscape that captures the rich Australian culture.”

In her report, Jones discusses Mansur’s use of symbolism and painting techniques to communicate via her work. She reports on Mansur’s life and inspirations. And she painted a copy of one Mansur’s pastels, “Old Boys Club,” to further explore the painter’s ideas and painting approach.

“We had several conversations and she sent me her final report and the painting she created,” reports Mansur. “She has put a lot of work into it, and I hope she does well and continues on her creative path. It’s very inspiring to see people expressing their passion at a young age, and whether she continues on this path or not, I wish her well.”
