“Wow … I’m stunned,” said artist Jennifer McChristian after a moment of being nearly speechless.

Why? Because she was announced the Grand Prize Winner of the 11th Annual PleinAir Salon, live via Zoom at the Plein Air Convention & Expo (PACE). Hundreds of us watched as Eric Rhoads and Kari Stober awarded each artist to a generous applause.

With her oil painting, “Catalyst” (shown at top) Jennifer won $15,000 and will have her work featured on an upcoming issue of PleinAir Magazine. She was shocked not only because she won the grand prize, but also because her husband managed to keep it – the news, and the giant check – a secret until the big reveal during PACE.
