“Big Sky,” by Stephen Day, oil, 8 x 10 in.

A plein air painter and a silversmith join up to create a collaborative exhibition at Sorrel Sky in Santa Fe, May 5-31.

Stephen Day is the plein air painter, Ray Tracey is the Navajo silversmith behind this exhibition, which has the title “Constant State of Change.”

“Stephen’s paintings have a spontaneous, natural sense about them, as if you just walked into the scene yourself,” says Shanan Campbell Wells, owner of Sorrel Sky. “With Ray’s designs, you can feel his willingness to embrace an unexpected inspiration. Each artist is open to the influence of their surroundings, open to the new directions their work may take, open to life’s constant state of change.”
