Adam Houston:
My paintings begin with direct observation, but I am less interested in recording a place than in capturing the feeling of being there. In these works, light transforms familiar interiors and buildings into arrangements of color, shape, and atmosphere. Working loosely and responsively, I allow brushwork, texture, and shifting edges to remain visible. Each painting balances recognition and abstraction, inviting viewers to slow down and experience the poetry within ordinary places.
