Kevin Macpherson is a master of the art of painting outdoors directly from nature, en plein air. His intent as a painter is to capture the light that infuses every scene.

“This is my Canadian friend, Owen Carney,” said Kevin of this recent portrait painting (shown above). “We are neighbors here in Loreto, Baja Mexico.”
Kevin recently painted this portrait of Owen Carney, his Canadian neighbor in Loreto, Mexico.
“Owen is 81 years old and still a very handsome and active man,” Kevin said. “We often play golf together. He made a hole-in-one on the Loreto Bay course, on hole number 15. I always wanted him to pose for me as he has such great facial structure, so this was a good excuse to get him to commit to a painting session.
“He rarely stands still. He asked how long he needed to sit for me and I said I’d like at least two hours. Well, he agreed but he set his watch and sat for two hours – not a minute more! I finished the background after our head session. Now his goal is to shoot his age.”
