Jacqui Gould: Painting in the Rocky Mountains in the summertime is a little slice of heaven. During the Peak Art Adventure, there was a bit of wildfire smoke in the air, giving our area a bit more atmosphere and a pink tinge to the aspen trunks. My plein air goal was to try and capture that feel as well as the unique light which drew me into each scene. I loved how the sun hit the water in the early morning on the river as well as the back-lit willows. And again, the dappled light filtering through the aspen grove on the roadside, revealed fascinating shadow and light patterns.
