After a decade in advertising, Kathryn Riedinger began classes at the Denver Art Students League while raising three young children. She found her niche and passion in landscape painting and has since studied extensively with Skip Whitcomb and Jill Carver, among other top painters and teachers. In 2014, Kathryn launched a successful workshop series, bringing top instructors to Sun Valley, Idaho, to teach plein air workshops including Whitcomb, Carver, Kathryn Stats, G. Russell Case, and Michael Lynch.

In 2020, Kathryn was juried into Plein Air Easton and Sonoma Plein Air and is invited to participate in both events in 2021. This year she was juried into Oil Painters of America Western Regional, American Impressionist Society 2020 Online Exhibition and National Association of Oil and Acrylic Painters “Best of America” Exhibition.

“This painting, Morning Light, was painted on a (very) cold morning north of town, Ketchum, Idaho. I stay warm with hand warmers in my hat, my boots and my gloves, standing on cardboard…and with a big thermos of coffee. I painted this quickly, mainly to try a capture that light hitting the mountain. Doesn’t last (neither do I!)”

Morning Light won Artist’s Choice Award and PAAC Board Award in the Plein Air Artists of Colorado Exhibition 2020.

Kathryn resides in Denver and Sun Valley.
