Ah, the elusive pot of gold and I found the road! Fall is such a beautiful season here in the Four Corners region of the United States. I live in the northwestern corner of New Mexico and am so fortunate to have access to both beautiful New Mexico landscapes as well as the Colorado wilderness and Arizona deserts. I love traveling country roads and mountain roads. Painting plein air gives me the perfect excuse to be on those type roads regularly.

This painting Road to Gold is a studio painting developed from reference material painted in plein air. What a beautiful time of year, trees full of gold, crisp fall air and a paintbrush in my hand.

I am Teresa Lynn Johnson, raised as a farm girl, who loves nature and animals. I love the inspiration that I absorb from my surroundings and never lack for subject matter to paint. I have been seriously painting for over 15 years, studying independently through college classes and many wonderful workshops. I hold a Fine Art Certification from Sessions College of Design and was fortunate in 2012 to be one of 12 artists chosen nationally, for a one year mentor-ship with world renown artist Kevin McPherson. The mentorship was a turning point in my artistic journey and I am forever grateful for the time I spent in Kevin’s mentorship program. I have found that the best teacher is truly nature itself.

“Nature will teach you about joy, heartbreak, beauty, struggle, inner peace and design if you stop and truly observe. As an artist it is pure joy to create my interpretations on canvas using artistic tools, knowledge and heart.”
