This is a scene from the coast of Martha’s Vineyard, one of Mark’s favorite locations. Into the Mystic captures the late day sun going down in the west, casting long shadows toward the viewer and creating a shimmering harbor where distant sailboats melt into the bright glare.

Mark is an award-winning American artist of contemporary realism whose work has appeared in numerous museums, galleries and publications. While he is best known for his coastal paintings of New England, he has done notable work around the country in a variety of genres. “I brake for beauty” is a personal motto he proudly displays as his bumper sticker.

A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Mark is a signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists and Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, and an elected artist member of The Salmagundi Club, The Guild of Boston Artists, The Copley Society, Rockport Art Association & Museum and other venerable art institutions. Mark is included in prominent art events throughout the country including Forgotten Coast en Plein Air, Plein Air Easton, Cape Ann Plein Air, and En Plein Air Texas.
