The Watcher
8 x 16 in.
Pastel on paper
Available through Ventana Fine Art

Driving from my home in New Mexico to participate in the Red Rocks Plein Air Festival last fall, I was making my way through the small towns and villages heading north up 491. As as got further from the dynamic topography and civilization and into the desolate plains I instinctually turned off the radio, turned on the heat and rolled down the windows. It’s sacred there. I feel it every time I go through. The monuments rising from the land force me to stop, photograph, sketch…. The wind howls and small batches of clouds change the landscape second to second. The Watcher is a portrait of one of the magnificent volcanic plug behemoths that take my breath in this beautiful, sacred stretches of land. It’s a 8 x 16 pastel created from an onsite sketch. This painting will be part of my upcoming solo show, Earth and Sky at Ventana Fine Art in Santa Fe on Canyon Road opening June 5, 2020. At least 40 new works will be on display both in the gallery and on their website. A large inventory of my work is on display there year-round. You can also find my work at RS Hanna, Abend Gallery, Cobalt Fine Arts, and at my website.

Through July 28, I have work in the prestigious Cowgirl Up! Invitational in Wickenburg, Arizona, at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum. In September I have the privilege and honor of being a featured artist at the Mendocino Open Paint Out, and as a benefit of winning Central City Plein Air’s best of show last year, I am invited to participate again this year in the Central City Plein Air Festival.

I am so pleased to announce that I have been asked to be on the Faculty for the Plein Air Convention and Expo, PACE2020! I will be demonstrating my technique on stage as well as working as a field painter in this event. The convention was to have been held in Denver and has been moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico for August! Hope to see you there!
