Fine Art Connoisseur’s Best of Show Award, 2019 LandArt Events

Valerie Craig’s painting Autumn Leaves was created on a property in Chester County, Pennsylvania as part LandArt Events, a year long partnership between 75 artists, landowners and the Brandywine Conservancy. The project aims to raise attention through art to the precious resources of open space and sustainable agriculture.

An avid plein air artist, Valerie revisited this special property many times in various seasons, thanks to the generosity of the landowner.  Valerie’s painting Autumn Leaves captured the clear October light, crisp air, and the crunch of falling leaves.

Valerie developed a real connection with the farm and its local wildlife. She also got to know the owner’s dog… or rather he got to know her art as he jumped in her car after a swim in the pond, leaving his muddy mark on recently completed paintings!

The LandArt Events Palette to Palate Competition culminated in an exhibition of 350 paintings created throughout the year where Judge Alexandra Tyng awarded Valerie’s painting Fine Art Connoisseur’s Best of Show Award.

Valerie’s recent awards also include Artists’ Choice, 2019 Gloucester, VA’s Heart of the River; Artists’ Choice Petit Painting, 2019 Olmsted Plein Air; Artists’ Choice, 2018 Ireland’s Art in the Open. Valerie is a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society.
