Thirty artists from Maine to California were invited to participate in the 2012 Sedona Plein Air Festival, sponsored by the Sedona Arts Center in Arizona, and an artist who may have traveled the farthest to get there went home with the Best of Show award.

Kathryn Stats gave an informative lecture during the 8th Annual Sedona Plein Air Festival, held from October 20-27, 2012, and she selected the prize winners in the competition. And Stats chose Maine artist Colin Page to receive the Best of Show prize for his painting titled “Tucked In.” The same painting earned Page the Artists’ Choice award, voted by the participating festival artists.

Among the other award winners were Bruce Gomez (Collector’s Choice Award) and Bill Cramer (2012 Poster Award). Cramer’s painting will be featured all year in marketing for the 2013 event and will be used on a poster and in an advertisement in PleinAir magazine. Other award winners include Joshua Been, Tracey Frugoli, Bruce Gomez and Betty Carr (plaques to be awarded); David Santillanes (First Place gift certificate from Judson’s Art Outfitters), Susan Pitcairn (Second Place and a gift certificate from SourceTek), Tom Lynch (First Place, Quick Draw), Tracey Frugoli (Second Place, Quick Draw).
