Patrick John Mills’ painting is covered by the falling snow, and that suits him just fine.

Patrick John Mills is quite accustomed to the elements. He paints outside in Ottawa, Canada, all the time. But sometimes he has to search for his painting.

One day recently, he found himself having to excavate his painting surface using a dry paintbrush — the snow was coming down furiously. Mills takes it all in stride. In fact, he embraces it. “It is about connecting,” he wrote. “It is about enjoying the moment. It is about the creative process. It is … loving.”
