For about seven months as millions of us experience quarantines and lockdowns due to Covid-19, Publisher and CEO Eric Rhoads and the Streamline team have been bringing inspiration and encouragement through live videos and interviews and workshop sessions that are changing lives.
On November 30 we marked 250 days of Eric hosting the videos almost every single day (only recently he has switched to taking weekends off, still going online five days a week). To celebrate, Eric hosted a “Battle of the Mediums” with four talented artists: Birgit O’Connor (watercolor), Tiffanie Mang (gouache), Greg Barnes (pastel), Shelby Keefe (oil).
During the battle, Birgit, Tiffanie, Greg, and Shelby were asked to paint from the same reference photo of a landscape (cheating was allowed). Toward the end of the hours, viewers could then vote for their favorite and enter a comment contest with incredible prizes of VIP tickets to the upcoming Watercolor Live online art conference.
Eric explained that the start of this series came from asking simple questions such as, “What can we do to survive?” and “What can we do to help everybody through this?”
The videos have inspired thousands, helping us stay focused on the positive side of life throughout the stay-at-home period. We’ve heard from hundreds of viewers who are painting for this first time and learning from the free video workshop samples our team posts online, and many who are coming back to art after raising a family and/or having a career.
