The Floyd Center for the Arts in Floyd, Virginia, has hosted a successful event in the past titled the Plein Air Crush. This year, they are launching a new event, the Floyd Plein Air Festival.
The event will be held August 14-19, and a commission on sold paintings will help support the Floyd Center for the Arts. Participants will paint in and around the Blue Ridge Parkway, Chateau Morrisette Winery, Riverstone Organic Farm, and in downtown Floyd. There will be a Quick Paint competition. More than $3,500 in awards will be given, including a top prize of $1,000 and a 1/4-page ad in PleinAir magazine.
Valerie Craig will serve as juror. Entries are due by April 4; go here for the prospectus.
