Artist Choice Award and Award of Excellence at Ohio Plein Air Society Competition 2021

On the first morning of the Ohio Plein Air Society Competition Joseph Lombardo raced the rising sun to capture long shadows and the first “Pop” of light in German Village, Columbus. Friday commuters stopped to cheer his success from their car windows.
Lombardo’s fellow plein air competitors selected “Pop” for the Artists’ Choice Award. Judge Patrick Lee picked “Pop” for an Award of Excellence.
“Pop” along with over one hundred new, 2021, paintings will be included in Lombardo’s solo show at Art Access Gallery in Columbus, Ohio. Lombardo’s exhibit runs November 12, 2021 to January 2022. Stop in to meet Joseph Lombardo at the Opening Reception, November 12 from 5–8pm. Art Access Gallery is open Wednesday–Friday 11am–5pm, Saturday 11am–4pm.
“Joe’s almost abstract landscapes are rich in color and emotion. The viewer can feel the essence of a place while not being presented with every detail,” said Barb Unverferth of Art Access Gallery.
Lombardo shows annually at Center Gallery, in Glen Arbor, Michigan. His 2022 opening will be held July 8, 2022 from 6–8pm.
