The works of American artist L. Diane Johnson convey an intimacy with the pure landscape, whether they include architecture, figures, gardens or water. She studied under a number of National Academy artists, paints subjects from around the world as well as her home in Central Virginia, most on location. In addition to the awards she has taken, Diane is a signature member of selected professional associations, and was the founding editor of PleinAir Magazine.

Her highest honor came when she was anonymously invited to, and participated in the first ever, White House Conference on Culture and Diplomacy, Washington, D.C. Along with global dignitaries, artists/performers from every arena she contributed to creating ways the arts could be nurtured anywhere and used to cross all cultural/governmental lines.

“Painting is like breathing — breathing is natural to life. I tell those who ask that, ‘The day I stop being inspired by God’s creation is the day I’ll put my brushes down.'” That hasn’t happened yet!
