2015 – plein air Cumberland, MD
Lon Brauer is a painter and photographer living and working in Granite City, IL, just across the river from St. Louis, MO.
After a long and successful career in studio photography, Lon jumped into plein air and has since been actively pursuing an avenue in landscape painting. He participates in as many outdoor painting events as time allows and truly loves the adventure of it all.
As a full time fine artist he currently produces paintings-both plein air landscape and figure-under the roof of Lon Brauer Studios. His work in all genres is an impressionistic use of paint and materials to create images that challenge the viewer with new perspectives.
In the past season, Lon received numerous awards for plein air in Augusta, MO; Steeleville, MO; New Harmony, IN; Cumberland, MD; and Camp Hill, PA.
He holds membership in the American Impressionist Society, the Missouri Valley Impressionists Society, the Outdoor Painters Society, the Missouri Plein Air Painters Association, and the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association.
He exhibits extensively in both group and solo showings and teaches workshops to those wishing to challenge the norm. He is currently represented by Opper & Webb-London, UK; Greenwich House Gallery-Cincinnati, OH; and Augusta Wood Limited-Augusta, MO.
