Rita Cirillo:
What are you currently working on?
Rita: For the last year or so, I have been winging a large commission. Using elements from my photo references, I am attempting to build a cohesive image. So far, I haven’t found a satisfactory middle ground, so I will continue experimenting with different ideas. Sometimes it takes awhile to figure out what the painting wants to be. That’s when I set it aside and work on something else. That “something else” right now is my quest to finish 50 miniature paintings for the 29th Annual “Once Upon a Time in the West” art show which opens June 19 and runs through July 4th in Cripple Creek, CO. Additionally, I have about 5 or 6 western paintings for the show that need a few strokes before I can say “Done!” Meantime, I published my first art book in 2024: “A Quick and Simple Guide to Oil Painting”. In my spare time, I am working on my 2nd book: “A Quick and Simple Guide to Plein Air Painting” (tentative title).
