The Grand Central Atelier has announced the 10 competitors who will battle for the $10,000 Grand Prize in its prestigious Still Life Competition.

The painters who will take on the Grand Central Atelier (GCA) Still Life Painting Competition this year are Caleb Carter, Jeremy Deck, Grace DeVito, Hans Guerin, Justin Hess, Sam Hung, Michael Klein, Noah Layne, Cesar Santos, and Justin Wood.

These artists will compete for the Grand Prize of $10,000. Second and third place finishers will receive $3,000 and $2,000, respectively.

In the event, finalists are allowed 48 hours over six days to stage and paint a still life, from start to finish. Although competitors can bring objects to paint, they will be given certain other items that must be included. The painting will take place at the GCA studio from July 27 through August 1, and public viewings will be held daily during lunch hour, from 1-2 p.m.

The judges for the event will be GCA founder and instructor Jacob Collins, Metropolitan Museum of Art Chairman of European Paintings Keith Christiansen, and painter and instructor Tony Curanaj. The fortunate winner of the Grand Prize will be announced and honored at an Awards Party on August 1, from 7-9 p.m.
