Hosted by the Borrego Art Institute (BAI), the 20th annual Borrego Springs Plein Air Invitational has attracted 16 nationally recognized plein air artists. Capturing their creative interpretations throughout the community of Borrego Springs and in the beautiful and dramatic Anza-Borrego Desert State Park March 2-6, the artists will be competing for almost $4000 in cash awards. New work will be hung in the gallery each day of the paint out.
The event juror of awards, New Mexico artist Natasha Isenhour, will select winners March 7 and present awards that afternoon beginning at 3:00 in BAI’s McQuown/Wermers Gallery.
The five-day paint-out includes a quick draw competition on March 4 at the Rams Hill Golf Club pavilion beginning at 8:30 that morning and with the winner chosen on site at 10:00.
During the week, the public is invited to observe the artists painting out in the field and at the quick draw.
The exhibition of paintings will hang in the McQuown/Wermers Gallery at the Borrego Art Institute through April 26, 2026.
