Following the announcement of the 2014 Plein Air Convention in Monterey just two weeks ago, the Portola Hotel & Spa at Monterey Bay is now 75% sold out for those dates. At the 2013 convention there were two host hotels (Portola and Marriott); however, the Marriott was not available for the 2014 dates. The Portola has told us they have never seen the hotel almost sold out for an event ten months in advance.
According to Eric Rhoads, Publisher of PleinAir magazine, “This is a great sign. Because we’re adding a special track for watercolor and pastel, and because were doing gallery meetings and a big art show, we’re expecting more people in 2014. This will be our biggest and best event yet. We’re encouraging people who plan to attend to wrap up their hotel bookings early to make sure there is a place to stay!”
