Thirteenth Annual Borrego Art Institute Plein Air paint-out, awards gala, and month-long exhibition and sale. Fifteen invited artists including eight newcomers, working in oil, watercolor, pastel, and acrylic, will display their renderings of high desert landscapes in our expansive new gallery space. The gallery and integral boutique restaurant sit at the gateway to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California’s largest; the quick draw at the park’s visitors center on March 6 is a big attraction. Borrego Springs welcomes tourists and seasonal residents in March for glorious weather, the height of wildflower season, and desert plein air painting at its best.

Shadows-on-the-Teche Plein Air

Shadows-on-the-Teche, a National Trust Historic Site in New Iberia, Louisiana, will present our 5th annual plein air competition in March 2019, with Morgan Samuel Price overseeing artist selection and awarding prizes. Enjoy a unique region enhanced by its architecture, massive moss-draped live oaks, and sugar-producing fields watered by the meandering Bayou Teche. Home to pioneering sugar planters, the oldest operating rice mill in the United States, a 19th-century actor’s hunting estate, and Avery Island, the birthplace of Tabasco, this region offers excellent food, superb original music, and hospitable residents. 6th Annual Lighthouse ArtCenter Plein Air Festival

This juried event is a premier gathering, the largest of its kind in South Florida. The festival awards over $15,000 in prizes, and 35 of the top plein air painters in the country participate. The judge for 2019 is our Grand Prize winner of the 5th Annual Plein Air Event, Jeff Markowsky. The public can observe artists painting at locations in Palm Beach and Martin Counties, then view and have the opportunity to purchase the wet paintings later at the ArtCenter Gallery. There will be artists’ demos and workshops, as well as a special ticketed VIP Collectors’ Reception.

Farm to Table Plein Air
Dates: March 15 – August 31, 2019

Farm to Table Plein Air, a unique event tying preserved properties, agricultural lands, local food, plein air painting, and education together. Juried artists paint March through August with at least eight painting days a month (more as weather improves) at locations in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Artists do not need to paint on every scheduled day but need to adhere to painting on scheduled days and at designated locations. Culminating event in Chester County, with judge of awards selecting paintings for $3,500 worth of prizes. 2018 Judge: Ron Donoughe. “Open” category if you do not want to compete in final event.

13th Annual New Visions Art Show

The 13th Annual New Visions Art Show is a wonderful time to watch 45 invited artists paint in the historic Ancestor Square area of St. George, Utah. New this year, artists will be giving talks about their art the evening of Thursday, March 21. There will be a silent auction on Friday, March 22, for the framed wet paintings created during the two-day event.

Find your paintable moment among the azaleas and hanging moss of the historic squares. Enjoy a quick draw in Columbia Square and several demos on Saturday. Spend a few days capturing the essence of the Old South with your brushes and paints while trying to win over $2,500 in cash and prizes. Join the reception and awards ceremony on Saturday evening at 5 p.m. Spend a leisurely weekend experiencing and painting the laid-back life of the “Old South.”

Paint the Town 2019

Paint the Town 2019 will feature 40 plein air artists from around the United States. They will paint for four days in a variety of Hill Country settings, and their works will be displayed at the Paint the Town Gallery in the Lakeside Pavilion, on the shores of beautiful Lake Marble Falls. Awards ceremony and patrons’ reception will be held Friday, April 5, at which time the winning pieces, along with other works, will be sold to the highest bidder. Artists and collectors alike will find Paint the Town 2019 a delightful experience.
