Participants in the Paint Out near Sisters, Oregon, which is sponsored by the National Forest Foundation, can paint spectacular views like this one in the Indian Ford Meadow Preserve.

Do you need a spectacular view to inspire you, or perhaps one just to shake you out of a rut? Go to Oregon on July 27. The National Forest Foundation is hosting the 5th Annual Paint Out at Black Butte Ranch, located near Sisters, Oregon.

“By providing a venue [Black Butte Ranch] for artists to come together and celebrate the beauty of the surrounding Deschutes National Forest, we hope to not only further interest in plein air painting, but also draw attention to the National Forest, which provides inspiration, recreation, and respite for so many,” says Lisa Leonard, Oregon Program Coordinator for the National Forest Foundation.

There’s a bit of a beat-the-clock feel to this competition: Artists will have their canvas or canvases stamped at 9 a.m. and must turn in their entries by 1p.m. — in a frame. Five awards will be given. For more information, visit the Paint Out’s Web page.
