We love to hear from the Plein Air Today community! The following is part of a series that spotlights an artist who loves painting outdoors. Today’s feature is on Sasha Fair.

“I started sketching and painting en plein air when I was a teenager; it was a mandatory part of the art school training in the Soviet Union, where I grew up,” says Sasha Fair.

“Back then, I wasn’t particularly enjoying it that much. My father made me a pochade box, but it wasn’t very comfortable to use, and my art teachers were very strict.

“I now live and create in the American West on the scenic shores of the Columbia River in rural Central Washington. I have a professional outdoor easel, and I’m free to embrace my artistic freedom in any way I want.

“This year I’m also helping to organize a 2-day plein air event in our small town of Wenatchee, and looking forward to painting together with our local and out-of-town artists.”
