Spiritual expression has driven much of art-making since the earliest creators of sculptures and paintings. A selling exhibition devoted to contemporary manifestations of the spiritual in art commemorates this historic relationship.

Held every other year in Colorado for the benefit of the nonprofit Colorado Dominican Vocation Foundation and its featured artists, the “Windows to the Divine” Art Exhibition & Sale premieres this weekend at ArtHaus in Denver.

Vincent Xeus, “Velvet Girl,” oil with antique Italian frame, 13 1/2 x 7 1/2 in. “Windows to the Divine” Art Exhibition & Sale

This selling exhibition gathers artworks that, in varied ways, draw upon and elicit the spiritual, “divine” aspects of art and art-making. However, the paintings and sculptures on view are not confined in subject matter to traditional, explicitly religious or sacred themes. Visions of the natural landscape, figurative works, still lifes, and even abstracted forms offer expressions of spiritual importance. Impressionistic, realistic, and abstracted styles commingle in this thoughtful display.
