The event is now over in Fish Creek, Wisconsin. So who won at the Door County Plein Air Festival?

“Niagara Escarpment,” by Mark Boedges, won Best of Show.

Mark Boedges was the big winner, taking home both Best of Show (for “Niagara Escarpment”) and Artists’ Choice (for “Sturgeon Bay Shipyard”). Marc R. Hanson won First Place with his painting “Nearing Road.” Second Place went to M. Shawn Cornell for “Queen Ann and King Cloud.” Third Place was won by Aaron Schuerr for his pastel painting “Evening Surprise.” The 1st Place Dockside Quick Paint award was won by Rick Brawner for his oil painting “The Chief.” Carol Strock-Wasson earned Honorable Mention for her pastel “Starry Night Over Moonlight Bay.”

Kenn Backhaus served as the juror. The event was organized by the Peninsula School of Art, and ran from July 21-27. Learn more at the Door County Plein Air Festival website.
