The California Art Club (CAC) highlights one of the defining characteristics of the Golden State — its awe-inspiring shoreline — during a must-see exhibition titled “A Journey Along the California Coast,” on view now through…

On September 12, The Old Mill in San Marino, California, opened a spectacular exhibition of works via the California Art Club, titled “A Journey Along the California Coast.” On view through January 14, the show features more than 40 paintings offering views of not only pristine vistas of unspoiled beaches and dramatic seaside cliffs, but also beloved landmarks, such as Hearst Castle and Old Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey.

The exhibition will coincide with the publication of Painting California: Seascapes and Beach Towns, the second book about the CAC from Skira Rizzoli. The 276-page book features 200 full-color illustrations of evocative seascapes, charming seaside towns, and beach communities from San Diego near the Mexican border to Crescent City at the Oregon border.

Cathy Crowser, chief operating officer for the CAC, said, “The CAC is delighted to present ‘A Journey Along the California Coast’ to celebrate the publication of Painting California. The lure of the Pacific Ocean has compelled CAC artists to paint the Golden State’s coastline and its surrounding beach communities for more than a century, so it is only appropriate that we spotlight works of this popular genre of California art at our gallery at The Old Mill as the new book from Skira Rizzoli is launched.”

A book signing with author Jean Stern will be hosted at The Old Mill on Saturday, October 21. Stern will also be joined by Elaine Adams, executive director and CEO of the arts organization, who penned the foreword of the book.

Participating artists in the exhibition include Peter Adams, Nanette Biers, Larry Cannon, Lorenzo Chavez, Christopher Cook, David Damm, Rick Delanty, Gil Dellinger, Esther Engelman, Mark Farina, Terri Ford, Andrea Gaye, Lynn Gertenbach, Diana Hecht, Laurie Hendricks, Carolyn Hesse-Low, Debra Holladay, Jeff Horn, David Jenks, Michelle Jung, Chuck Kovacic, Frank Lennartz, Simon Lok, Carolyn Lord, Kim Lordier, Elaine Mathews, Patricia McGeeney, Jim McVicker, Sherrill Miller, Jim Morgan, Lisa Mozzini-McDill, Michael Obermeyer, Tony Peters, April Raber, Gerald Rahm, Pauline Roche, Dan Schultz, Liliana Simanton, Marjorie Taylor, and Karen Winters.
