John Burton served as juror at the Carmel Arts Festival, which ran May 15-18 in Carmel, California. Aimee Erickson walked away with top honors for her oil painting “Back of the Wharf.”
Second Place was earned by Michael Obermeyer for his painting “Fortress in Flight.” He painted the B-17 bomber while it was parked at an airfield, then painted his backdrop from a view up above the bay. Third Place went to Laurie Kersey for “Beach Day.” Hui Lai Chong won the PleinAir Magazine Award of Excellence for “Monterey Moonrise,” John Guernsey won the PleinAirCollector.com Award of Excellence for “Beach Houses at Pacific Grove,” and Jason Sacran earned the Fine Art Connoisseur Award of Excellence for “China Cove.” The Artists’ Choice Award went to Lu Yu for “Bluefish Cove.”
